Actor Dallas McKennon has passed away at the age of 89

Actor Dallas McKennon has passed away at the age of 89, a few days before his 90th birthday.

His extensive resume in television and radio spans more than fifty years, with his most notable role being that of Gumby in the Art Clokey stop-motion animated series. He also performed the voice of Buzz Buzzard in Lantz's Woody Woodpecker shorts and Archie Andrews in multiple Archie animated series in the 60s and 70s. His voice was often heard in cereal commercials in the 1950s, providing the original voice of Tony the Tiger for Kellogg's Frosted Flakes, Corny the Rooster for Kellogg's Corn Flakes, and Snap, Crackle, and Pop for Kellogg's Rice Krispies.

McKennon also had a long history with the Disney company. He provided voices in Mary Poppins, Lady and the Tramp, Sleeping Beauty, and One Hundred and One Dalmatians, among others. His voice is also often heard in several Disney theme park attractions, like the narrator of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad ("hold on to your hats and glasses!"), Andrew Jackson in the original Hall of Presidents, Zeke at The Country Bear Jamboree, and Benjamin Franklin in The American Adventure at Epcot.
