Disneyland VoluntEARS

VoluntEARS Events

Blood Drive

*

The Disneyland® Resort has been holding blood drives in partnership with the American Red Cross for more than 30 years. Through this partnership, cast members have donated 28,000 pints of blood — an amount that has helped in saving more than 85,000 lives.

"Disneyland not only gives joy to millions, it also gives life to the sick and injured through its blood drives. No other Southern California business saves as many lives in one location as Disneyland,” said Cliff Numark, director of donor recruitment for American Red Cross Blood Services in Southern California.

Canine Companions for Independence

Disney VoluntEARS assisted the Canine Companions for Independence graduation at the organization’s guide dog training facility in Oceanside, Calif. CCI is a not-for-profit organization that provides highly trained assistance dogs and ongoing support to people with disabilities. VoluntEARS support several events each year including CCI’s Team Training Graduation Day. Proceeds from cast member recycling efforts at the Disneyland® Resort are also donated to CCI to support guide dogs in training.

Minnie’s Moonlit Madness

*

On May 20, after closing to day guests, Disneyland® Park was filled with cast members, friends and family competing in a four-hour trivia contest and scavenger hunt to raise funds for the Community Action Partnership Food Bank.

More than 1,200 participants took to the streets and pathways of the park to participate in the fundraising event. Minnie Mouse was joined by cast members to present the foodbank with a check for $5,000 on behalf of the Disney VoluntEARS.

CHOC Mural

*

The Disney VoluntEARS recently gave a “Finding Nemo” themed makeover to four of the treatment rooms at Children’s Hospital of Orange County. The walls were painted blue, giving the rooms an “under the sea” feel, and colorful murals were then mounted to complete the design. The hospital held a special unveiling party, hosted by Minnie Mouse, complete with Nemo-themed crafts and treats to celebrate the completion of the murals.

AIDS Walk Orange County

*

More than 200 Disney VoluntEARS filled Angels Stadium in Anaheim, on Sunday, May 10, to support AIDS Services Foundation’s annual AIDS Walk Orange County. VoluntEARS brought their friends and family to the Sunday morning walk, raising more than $10,000 to support the fight against HIV/AIDS.
