Hong Kong Disneyland Resort invites more than a hundred elderly people to enjoy Disney movie Up Sharing their dreams with their families

(August 15, 2009 – Hong Kong) The Walt Disney Company (Hong Kong) and Hong Kong Disneyland Resort today invited more than a hundred elderly people and their families to enjoy the new Disney•Pixar movie Up.

Hosting the group were Disney VoluntEARS led by event champion Hong Kong Disneyland Resort Managing Director Andrew Kam.

“Up has proved to be very popular among audiences of all ages. The main character Carl is an energetic elderly gentleman who fulfils his lifelong dream and there are lots of laughs along the journey in this touching story,” said Kam. “We all have dreams and we hope that this movie can encourage audiences to live with positivity and optimism. In many ways, I think it can also encourage us to truly appreciate the older members of our families.”

This activity was held in Whampoa, Kowloon and organized by The Walt Disney Company and Hong Kong Disneyland Resort in conjunction with UA Cinemas who provided the venue, and complimentary popcorn and drinks. Each participant was presented with a movie-themed souvenir. In the past four years, Disney VoluntEARS have worked with over 20 local charities to bring close to 3000 children and their families on fun days out to the cinemas.
