Boy killed at Disney World

A 10-YEAR-OLD boy was struck by a bus and killed on Thursday while riding his bicycle in a wooded part of Walt Disney World in Florida, US media reported.


The Orlando Sentinel reported that the boy was riding with an 11-year-old friend on a two-lane road that loops around part of the resort when he was hit by the bus. He died at the scene, but the girl he was riding with was not injured.

'We wish to extend our deepest sympathy to the boy's family and loved ones for their loss,' Disney spokesman Andrea Finger told the daily. 'We're currently providing the necessary resources and care to help the family with this situation.'

Ms Finger said the bus driver and the 28 passengers were being interviewed by authorities.
There is a sidewalk along the road where the accident occurred, but the paper said it was unclear whether the children were riding in the road or on the sidewalk.

This week is one of the busiest times of the year for Disney, as many US schools are closed for the week leading up to Easter,
